Enlargement Art

We have been learning about enlarging an object, shape or image as a nice way to end the term we have done some artwork which required us to enlarge. so we had to do the maths before we could get started on the art. We first of all choose a kiwiana picture and then we measured out grid lines 3cm apart. We then got our big sheet of paper and enlarged it making the picture 1.5times the size.
Check out our progress so far.
REMEMBER YOU CAN CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO 'ENLARGE' IT IF YOU WANT TO SEE MORE OF A CLOSE UP.

  1. Hi Room 11
What a great art and math activity! I love how you have enlarged the kiwiana pictures. Are they finished? I may have to come in and look at them hanging in you wonderful classroom!
What did you find challenging and what did you enjoy?

    1. To Mrs Natusch,
Not all of them are finished yet so we will let you know when they are so that you can come and have a look at them.
We enjoyed making the picture bigger and colouring the picture in pastel. We found it challenging to rule the lines to enlarge our picture,(we had to practice ruling straight lines).

  2. Dear Room 11~

That is really cool! That looks like it is hard to do. Is it easy or hard? Is it fun to do? I hope that our class could do something like that.

    1. To Miles,
It was a little bit hard to sketch the right parts in the right boxes and ruling up our grid to enlarge it at the start. The colouring in was the easy and fun part.

  3. Hi!
We are the class from Banff Alberta and we are excited to look at your blog today. When we were reading about the twisted fairy tales, Ms. Feist told us that we would be doing that in our class too but not until after Christmas. We have a couple of questions for you. We wondered how many hours ahead you are from us. Are you really sleeping when we are at school? We also didn't know what a jandal is!

    1. To Ms Feist class,
A jandal is a shoe that is not covered in (it doesn't cover your foot). It has two straps that go between your big toe. When you walk it flops. At the beach in summer in New Zealand you see us wearing jandals or barefeet.
Yes you are sleeping when we are at school because your on the other side of the world to us and we are on the other side of the world to you. We are the first to country to see the sunrise in the morning so we are probably the first to get up.
