Kiwi Grub for Mohua-Summarising

The Roald Dahl reading group have been learning to summarise the key points they discovered in the story we read about Spotted Kiwi's.
Listen to what they learnt from the story as well as two facts they went on to research about Spotted Kiwis.

  1. To Amelia,
Remember with summarising we just want to get the key points. So were you amazed that staff at the Wildlife Reserve spent hours searching for worms for Mohua? Where you surprised with how much she ate because she is only little and ate 500 worms and 70 huhu grubs?
You said The Great Spotted Kiwi is more like a mammal rather than a bird. What does mammal mean?

  2. To Jacob,
I like the facts that you found from the book and it sounded like these ones made better sense for you. Remember with information you research you need to make sure you put it into your own words to show you understand what it means. I think one of your points was that Great Spotted Kiwi's can avoid their predators like dogs and pigs because they are in a different part of the bush up high where the other animals don't go.
You talk about predators. What are predators?
