New Zealand's Shake Out

Today people all around New Zealand took part in the great New Zealand Shake Out to make sure we all know what to do if we are in an earthquake.
We are very fortunate not to be experiencing what poor Christchurch are constantly being rattled around but we jumped on board and had a practice at dropping, covering and holding this morning. Here are a few photos once the drill was over and it was safe for Mrs Head to come out from her table.
We also learnt a poem about how to keep ourselves self in an earthquake.

I like how you all participated in practicing how to be safe in an earthquake. Maybe someday it will come in handy to know how to protect yourself. Do you get earthquakes often? How often do you have an earthquake drill? We have fire drills here at our school. We had an earthquake drill once. We went under the table and covered our neck with our hands so that if the ceiling broke our heads would be safe. We don't have very many earthquakes here at all, but San Fransisco has a lot of them and they are only five hours away from us.

We haven't had an earthquake drill here yet, but I do remember having one at my old school. We moved the chairs out, got under the desk, and pulled the chairs back in to tuck us in. We got as small as we could. Have you had an earthquake during school?
