Maaori Phrase of the Week

Each week we are given a new phrase at Monday mornings assembly to practice and learn in Te Reo Maaori. This week we are learning how to introduce ourselves.
Ko wai to ingoa which means My name is...
Ko ... taku ingoa means ... is my name.

You can also introduce your parents by saying
Ko wai to mama-My mum is...
Ko wai to papa-My dad is...
Thanks to Ella and Eva who were the first to give the Maaori Phrase a go using the Puppet Pals app on our ipad.

  1. We have a phrase of the week for Te Reo too, but we get our new one on a Wednesday morning. It comes over the speakers in our classroom. You did a very good job of making your video. We thought you spoke very clearly.

  2. To Room 8,
How many Maaori phrases have you had so far this year?
What is your phrase for this week?
Have you ever used the Puppet Pals app to share the phrase of the week? Or have you ever used Puppet Pals before and if so what have you used it for?
Who introduces your new phrase over the speaker each week? And over the speaker do they ask who remembers last weeks phrase?
What is your favourite phrase so far?
Do you have a Maaori phrase expert? Or anyone that speaks fluent Te Reo in your class.
